"Digital technologies have transformed how and what young people create."
Technology has created easy tools and resources, putting the most useful information at our fingertips. Digital natives are the young people who grew up with the Web. They have
transformed their education and learning, the way they
make and maintain friendships, how they spend their
leisure time, and their engagement with wider society. As the generation who's been watching the progress of digital age, how and what we were able to create was certainly very different.
"Because social learning networks are relatively new and understudied spaces, we don’t
know whether they can or do support self-directed arts learning."
Art learning is a process that requires sensibility and connections. We learn art through smell, taste, vision, hearing and many other different ways. Being able to connect our experience and engage it with different materials for expression would be the key for making art. Thus I doubt self-directed arts learning could be done with social learning networks.
